SK - UA Gas Interconnector: Binding phase of Open Season 2014

Preparatory works on interconnecting the gas transmission networks of Slovakia and Ukraine have progressed in accordance with agreements between EUSTREAM and Ukrtransgaz. The Slovak gas transmission system operator hereby invites all potential network users to take part in the open season procedure intended to establish the binding interest of the market in gas transmission via this newly constructed Slovakia – Ukraine interconnecting line.

The SK – UA Gas Interconnector will interconnect the transmission systems of EUSTREAM and Ukrtransgaz through a new interconnection point in Budince, near the existing interconnection point in Veľké Kapušany. This interconnector will offer new gas transmission opportunities and improve cross-border liquidity.

The Open Season for the allocation and sale of transmission capacities of the SK-UA Gas Interconnector is officially announced to start on 26 May 2014. The registered participants may submit their transmission capacity requests by 23 June 2014. The evaluation of the Open Season based on the submitted binding bids will be followed with the conclusion of the respective transmission contracts between EUSTREAM and the network users/shippers.

Transmission via the Ukrainian part of the SK-UA Gas Interconnector will be governed by the standard capacity booking process of the operator of the Ukrainian gas transmission network, Ukrtransgaz (http://www.utg.ua/).
