SK-HU Interconnector: New round of the binding phase of the Open Season with updated conditions

Bratislava – Eustream and FGSZ are pleased to announce the re-launch of the binding phase of the Open Season process for the planned interconnection between the Slovak and Hungarian gas transmission systems.

The second round of the binding phase of the Open Season is the follow-up to the process started in the first half of 2010, when market interest did not meet Hungarian regulatory requirements and FGSZ declared the first binding phase as unsuccessful.

After extensive communication of all stakeholders and mutual consultations, the conditions of the project were updated in several aspects in order to accommodate market needs and enable the successful implementation of the project. Applicants can benefit from the changed rules for financial guarantees and greater flexibility in the definition of lot duration. The gas pipeline is expected to be put into operation at the beginning of 2014.

The re-launched binding phase of the Open Season is open for applicants registered in both the non-binding and the binding phase, and also for other companies interested in transmission capacity in the new Slovak-Hungarian interconnector. Participants can submit their binding bids for transmission capacity from 15 October till 8 December. Eustream and FGSZ will evaluate the bids and publish the results of the re-launched binding phase of the Open Season at the end of December 2010.
