Construction Inauguration Ceremony for Poland – Slovakia Gas Interconnection

Construction inauguration ceremony took place at the compressor station in Veľké Kapušany on 18 September 2018.

Eustream has obtained the valid construction permit for the Slovak part of the Poland – Slovakia Gas Interconnection at the beginning of August. In practice it means that this EU’s Project of Common Interest moved from the preparatory phase to the realization phase – enabling the Slovak transmission system operator to proceed according to the schedule, with planned commissioning of the new pipeline in year 2021. In this occasion, construction inauguration ceremony took place at the compressor station in Veľké Kapušany, with the presence of the Slovak prime minister Peter Pellegrini, minister of economy Peter Žiga, Plenipotentiary of the Government of Poland for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimski, CEO of GAZ-SYSTEM Tomasz Stępień, CEO of Eustream Rastislav Ňukovič and other state, municipal and business representatives, including INEA representative.

“Commencing gas pipeline construction works in Slovakia is another great step towards reaching the goals of the EU energy policy. Our project will allow for diversification of the CEE region gas sources and will contribute to the enhancement of the regional security of supply and integration of the natural gas markets. I am glad to be here today with our business partner – Eustream, looking forward to our future fruitful cooperation” – said Tomasz Stępień, CEO of GAZ-SYSTEM.
