Binding Open Season for the SK-UA gas interconnector

Eustream is considering construction of a new bi-directional interconnection between gas transmission systems of Slovakia and Ukraine. Slovak gas TSO is starting procedure known as Open Season in order to investigate binding market interest in transmission via intended SK-UA gas interconnector.

The SK-UA Interconnector is planned to be constructed near the existing interconnection point Veľké Kapušany in the length of approximately 7 km. In case of implementation, this gas interconnection can offer new transmission opportunities and enhance cross-border liquidity.

Open Season procedure for the SK-UA gas interconnector will be officially announced on 20 June 2012 with an aim to allocate and sell transmission capacity. Registered participants can submit their bids by 19 September 2012. Booked transmission capacities should guarantee economical viability of the project - this is one of the most important criteria of evaluation of the Open Season process. In case of being evaluated as successful (beginning of November) the Open Season will be followed by conclusion of final transmission contracts between Eustream and shippers.

More details on the rules of the Open Season process for SK-UA gas interconnector are available on www.eustream.sk/en_transmission-system/en_sk-ua-interconnector. For transmission in the Ukrainian part of the SK-UA Interconnector the applicants shall follow the standard procedure of the capacity booking of the Ukrainian transmission system operator Ukrtransgaz (www.utg.ua).
