Andreas Rau to become Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eustream

On 1 July Andreas Rau will become the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company eustream, a.s. (Eustream), taking over the highest post in the company from Antoine Jourdain, who will continue to serve in the Board of Directors as a regular member.

Both gentlemen agreed that the upcoming period is crucial for Eustream. In terms of the Third Energy Package the company must become completely independent from the parent company SPP.

“The unbundling process is running at full speed, which means that in a few months time Eustream will be a fully-fledged and independent gas TSO with its own support functions like HR, IT and finance. Other huge challenges await us, most notably work on international gas interconnection projects as part of the North-South corridor”, informed new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eustream, Andreas Rau.

The interconnection project with Hungary is moving forward through intensive talks on preparations with our Hungarian partners, and the ground work is being done for preparation of a feasibility study for the Poland-Slovakia gas interconnection project. Both these projects are crucial for connecting up the transmission systems of the Visegrad Four countries. “Connecting up existing networks and the possibility of connecting to future transmission systems is perceived by Eustream as a benefit internationally and in terms of security. We are diversifying routes and boosting the security of the whole Central European region, which is supported by the governments of involved countries and also by the European Union, which is also assisting the projects financially”, added Chairman of the Board of Directors to date, Antoine Jourdain.

Based on agreement of the SPP shareholders, Eustream, just like the parent company SPP, applies the principle of regular annual rotation of the post of Board of Directors chairman. The personnel changes were approved at the Annual General Meeting from 11 May 2011. In addition to the changes in the Board of Directors, the General Meeting also approved a change to the post of deputy chairman of the Supervisory Board, where Georg Friedrich Rosenstock is to replace Thierry Kalfon.
